Moderation Policy

How USDeclutter moderates listings, profiles, and messages to maintain community standards and safety.

1. How Moderation Operates

  • Automated Screening: Real-time filters scan incoming listing text, titles, links, and media for spam patterns and prohibited keywords.
  • Human Review: Trained moderation staff manually review flagged items, contested listings, and high-risk categories.
  • Community Flags: Users can flag suspicious posts, spam, or harassment directly from any screen.

2. What Content Is Subject to Review

  • All published ad titles, category choices, prices, location tags, descriptions, and uploaded images.
  • User profiles, usernames, bios, and public avatars.
  • Direct chat messages (scanned automatically for security, fraud patterns, or abusive harassment).
  • Community dispute logs and user feedback.

3. Grounds for Content Removal

  • Listings offering prohibited, counterfeit, or stolen merchandise.
  • Keyword-stuffed descriptions, spam, or repetitive duplicate postings.
  • Deceptive pricing (e.g., listing $1 for a $50,000 automobile to manipulate search rankings).
  • Harassment, hateful remarks, threats, or vulgar language.
  • Infringement upon copyright, trademark, or intellectual property rights.

4. Enforcement Actions

  • Listing Modification or Deletion: Removing offending posts or requiring correction before republication.
  • Warning Notices: Formal notification alerting the user to policy discrepancies.
  • Feature Restrictions: Temporary suspension of messaging, posting privileges, or bumping capabilities.
  • Account Suspension & Permanent Bans: Terminating accounts for fraudulent conduct, repeated abuse, or severe violations.

5. False & Malicious Reporting

Weaponizing community flags to harass competitors, submit coordinated false complaints, or suppress legitimate sellers is strictly prohibited and subject to account restriction.

6. Appeals Process

If you believe your listing or account was penalized in error, you may submit an appeal via our Help & Support center with supporting documentation. Our senior moderation team investigates appeals within 1-2 business days.
